Belong OT assessment
Occupational therapy assessment
A clearer picture of everyday life, strengths, needs and environments, with practical recommendations linked to the activities that matter.
How assessment works
Assessment is shaped around the person and the practical questions they want help to answer. It is recommended only where more information would strengthen the plan. Some people benefit from an Initial Consultation, Goal-Focused OT Support or signposting without a full assessment.
Start with an Initial Consultation: new individual clients usually begin with a 60-minute online appointment and receive a brief written Summary and Plan. This starts the assessment process but is not a full assessment, and its fee is separate.
Stage 1: Everyday Life & Participation Assessment
€400
A complete assessment in its own right, with a written OT report and practical recommendations.
Stage 2: Further focused assessment
+ €400
Optional, and agreed only where further assessment would answer a specific question or add useful information.
Both assessment stages together cost €800, excluding the Initial Consultation. Travel or additional professional work outside the agreed assessment is discussed in advance. See full pricing information.
What does Stage 1 explore?
The assessment brings together your priorities and goals, considering:
- Everyday life: routines, activities, independence and what the person needs or wants to do.
- Strengths and needs: what works well, where effort is high and what makes participation harder.
- Environment and demands: how home, education, study, community and other everyday settings affect participation.
Findings and recommendations are linked to the agreed assessment question.
Assessment at different stages of life
The approach is adapted to the person’s age, everyday activities and priorities.
Early Years
Assessment may explore everyday care, play, movement, sensory experiences, family routines and preschool participation.
Children & Young People
Assessment may explore school participation, movement, self-care, written work, organisation and growing independence.
Adults
Assessment starts with personal priorities across everyday routines, home, study, community life and work routines where relevant. DCD/dyspraxia may be explored as a focused area within Adult OT Assessment.
Your report and recommendations
Occupational therapy assessment focuses on everyday function. Belong OT does not provide autism or ADHD diagnostic assessment.
What can the report be used for?
The report explains findings within the agreed scope and links recommendations to everyday participation. It may inform home, education or other planning, but does not guarantee access to funding, supports or accommodations.
Questions people often ask
Occupational therapy assessment FAQs
Do I have to complete both assessment stages?
No. The €400 Everyday Life & Participation Assessment is complete in its own right. Further focused assessment is only recommended where it is likely to add useful information.
Is the Initial Consultation part of the assessment fee?
No. The Initial Consultation is a separate first-step service for new individual clients. Assessment fees are shown separately so you can see clearly what each stage costs.
Do I need a diagnosis before booking OT?
No. Assessment is guided by everyday function, participation and the questions you want help to understand. A diagnosis is not required to discuss whether occupational therapy is the right fit.
What might further focused assessment include?
The method depends on the person, their priorities and the assessment question. It may include direct observation, practical or functional tasks, standardised assessment, a setting visit, more detailed motor or coordination assessment, or additional information from relevant people or settings.
What happens after the report?
The recommendations guide practical next steps. This may include Goal-Focused OT Support, changes to routines or environments, collaboration with other people, review, onward referral or no further OT input.
Not sure whether assessment is the right next step?
Start with an Initial Consultation. We can talk through your priorities, what information would be useful and whether assessment or goal-focused support makes most sense next.
Schools and education settings should begin with an enquiry.
